Load Snow Applet Wednesday, 12th of December 2002
It is over three weeks later. I am not sure as to whether I should be proud that all I accomplished over that time is to upload over 3.2 GB worth of music (Also available in a seperate window at http://music.huyett.us. Nearly 60 hours for your listening pleasure). I have the full version of the software now so there will no longer be the "Skip Every Other Song". I am still checking out other music streaming software though I will still be using Andromeda. I like the interface and the ability to choose what I want to listen to. However, those of you with a 56 kb/s modem will not be able to listen in. There are programs out there that will do the Re-encoding to a lower bit-rate than the ripped 128 kb/s, but none that will then allow you the listener to choose the songs.

The snow applet (click on the image to load): I was going to attempt to write one using PHP - Thinking it would give me a chance to use the graphics library. Then I realized I wanted this BEFORE the holidays. BEFORE July. So I did a search online and found one already written in Java at Real Applets . The picture is from Digital Blasphemy - Where I get most of my wallpapers.

I've been asked by person or persons who shall remain nameless if I could have found a dorkier picture of me to place on my Home Page. The unfortunate answer to this question is "absolutely". My reason for using this is that it is the most recent, having been taken only about a month ago at my workplace. It is somewhat candid - somewhat being defined as I had noticed my boss, Andreas, loading up the old Polaroid then seconds later saying "Jesse!". I looked.

My work is my hobby. I spend way too much time there and at home sitting in front of a computer (like now at 3 AM). If that isn't glued to my face it is typically a book or magazine on the subject. I honestly can't remember the last time I read a book that did not have some sort of code, network configurations, history of ... despite people such as my brother trying to send me other books in hopes of me actually reading them (Cold Mountain, The Cheese Monkeys... Sorry you had to find out this way but I promise to get around to them someday.) I am not entirely that pathetic in where I do find time to read Newspapers (Washington Post and WSJ) and Magazines (Time and Premier thanks to the wife). But these are easy since it is not a long term commitment.

My work on this website has been very sporadic. I love to configure. Andromeda (the music program), openBB (forums), Gallery (the name of the picture program), the web server... My problem though is that the fun is then over. Let someone else do the content. But unfortunately I am a website of one and therefore have to suffer with some installed programs and little for you, the reader, to actually do at my site.
I am trying very hard to overcome this. I have:
- added a few pictures in my gallery of items I find around the web (man I hope they are Public Domain - read as "Don't Sue") and a few personal pictures I took the time to scan (speaking of joyless chores).
- uploaded some music for you the listener and also for myself wherever I happen to be. I am still testing other Music Streaming Software and have yet to decide whether to pay for the one I am using (It is a trial with Unlimited Time but the unfortunate "Skip every other song") or use another. I do really like the interface on this one and having the ability to choose what to listen to (versus just being given a stream to WinAmp or XMMS with no options). But until I decide, the amount of music there will probably not change by much.
- placed some of my notes over the past year in the Forums Area though I still have a way to go. This is for me (though you are welcome to read them) to again have access to wherever I happen to be. Writing these on pieces of paper was getting old and confusing. "My Notes" is also pushing it. Some of these were emails sent to me from customers or discussions in the past with Kamran, Farhad, occationally Sujit, and currently with Murat (Murtix.com - someone who does keep up his content and therefore makes me jealous).
